Christmas '09

So, I didn't do a very good job of taking photos of all of our Holiday fun this year. Maybe I was a little disappointed that Santa didn't bring me a new camera. Or, it could be that the camera I do have sucks the life right out of the batteries in like one use. What's up with that? I know, I need to get rechargeable batteries. So, this is the kids decorating the Christmas tree all by themselves this Christmas. We won't go into that story again. Let's just say I have a plan as to how the tree will get decorated this year.
We did manage to get all of our Christmas traditions in again and we weren't rushed to do so like Halloween. Finally adding KC to our traditions was a highlight this Christmas. We plan on going back to KC this year with just some minor adjustments.
Our Christmas always starts at my Dad's house on Christmas Eve and then on to my in-laws. Of course I don't have any photos of Christmas at my in-laws, but it was enjoyable.
I got to spend a whole 30 minutes with the kids on Christmas morning before heading to work. This is just one of the sacrifices you have to make working in health care. It really wasn't that bad. I only had to work 8 hours and we didn't have any plans but to sit around the house all day anyway. When I called Martin he said the kids had been downstairs playing the Wii all day and he hadn't seen them, so I wasn't to depressed. I sat with an older woman all day and watched Christmas movies. Really, it wasn't that bad and I was making time and a half and Holiday pay. I got home at 3:30 and my mom arrived at 4:30. We went to my in-laws and enjoyed some fine wine and prime rib. Perfect way to end Christmas day. Saturday, we headed to my sisters and spent the whole day there to celebrate Christmas with my mom. It was a wonderful day. Good food and company. The kids got to go sledding. Even Addie participated. She was a trooper and wasn't even scared. I was, it was a big hill. Sometimes, you just have to let them go! When it was time to go home, at about 10PM the boys and kids decided it was time to play some street football. Seriously. They had a really good time and I think it will go down as a memory the kids won't ever forget! New Year's was good too. More good food and friends and family. Now, it's time to start another year. I'm pretty sure this one is going to be a good one. So, here's to another good year.
